Necropolis Oil Landscape Painting
I love walking in a cemetery when the light is raking, picking out the crinkles of bark and the ornaments of the stone carvings.. I imagined this cemetery--which exists only in my mind--to be crowded with old-fashioned mausoleums lit by the rising sun on a spring morning. Blue and yellow is my favorite color combination, so I used the pigments Prussian blue to represent the night hanging on and new gamboge lightened with titanium to create the dawn light..
The original oil painting is 11 x 14" on canvas with a traditional 7/8" profile and is ready to hang or frame.
