I've been fascinated by the phoenix ever since I found out that their preferred food is frankincense. IOW, this bird is not only Fire, but it has a serious appreciation of the beauty that is frankincense. Also, for me the frankincense as food thing resonates with the remark in the Zohar that angels feed only on the scent of incense. The phoenix might not be an angel, but it is definitely a creature with a strong spirit. I used red for Fire, of course, but also blue for peacock beauty and for blue fire.
