This painting was inspired by the flowers of Kniola's Black morning glory, a variety I've grown many times. I made use of that variety's dominants colors here, but my real interest in morning glories is the trumpet shape, which makes me think of vortices and swirling power. I also love the tube of the flower, which reminds me of breaking light with its clean white and tinge of yellow.
The original watercolor painting is 9 x 12"/23 x 30cm on heavy cotton watercolor paper. It is ready to frame.
