This grove of trees arose from the canvas like trees arise from heavy fog--or like an image arises from the subconscious. I love it when the edges of everything begin to dissolve into the evening. I see this grove as a sacred place, where birds like to perch and sing their evening song and deer like to settle down for sleep.
